Health, habit and high-quality EVOO: the birth of Hoji

The idea behind HOJI emerged from Jack Oberg’s personal recovery journey. After a head injury in 2022 led to long-lasting post-concussive symptoms, Oberg began rebuilding his health “from the inside out,” turning to simple and natural foundations. One daily habit made a noticeable difference: consuming high-quality extra virgin olive oil. However, traditional olive oil products proved unreliable and nearly impossible to use consistently while traveling or maintaining a busy routine.

We had a chat with founder Jack Oberg to talk about keeping olive oil fresh, tasty and true to its source and how the right packaging makes all the difference

Easysnap: What makes your olive oil special?
Jack Oberg: “Our olive oil is single-origin and never blended or filled, so you know exactly where it comes from. We keep best-by dates intentionally short so people are consuming it at peak freshness, and every batch is organic with full lab results posted for transparency. The single-serve packaging isn’t just convenient, it locks in quality, prevents waste, and makes olive oil something you can actually use every day, whether at home, in a smoothie, or on the go. We also highlight harvest dates clearly (website), something most brands overlook. At the core, Hoji is about educating people on the benefits of olive oil, making it more exciting to consume, trust, personability and offering small-scale, high-quality olive oil at a price point that makes sense, while raising the bar for what people should expect from this category.”

Easysnap: Why did you decide to go for single-serve packaging?
Jack Oberg: “I needed something that actually fit into my schedule. With a regular bottle, the oil starts to deteriorate the moment it’s opened light, air, and time all eat at the quality. I didn’t want my daily ritual to rely on something that was losing its integrity with every pour. Single-serve solves that primary issue. Each sachet is perfectly sealed, so it stays fresh until the moment you open it. It’s also pre-measured, which makes forming a daily habit much easier, you don’t have to think about how much to pour or worry about wasting it. On top of that, it’s portable and convenient, so it works whether you’re at home, traveling, or fitting it into a busy day. For me, single-serve is the only way olive oil can become a true daily health ritual instead of just a pantry staple.”

Easysnap: How did you first discover Easysnap®, and why choose it?
Jack Oberg: “I first came across Easysnap during my co-packing search, I was digging through a lot of different platforms, and one of them pointed me their way. We were hesitant at the start, but as we spent more time on it, we realized we liked pretty much everything about it. The format is more sustainable than most conventional single serving packets, requiring less energy to produce & ship, and it provides an excellent barrier against light and oxygen, which is critical for olive oil. Their team was great to work with, and we saw real growth potential in the partnership. On top of that, Easysnap avoids the wasteful tear-offs you usually get with sachets and is much easier to use. Even my mom, who struggled with traditional small sachets, had no problem opening it one-handed. It checked every box for us.”

Easysnap: Are you planning to use single-serve for other products too?
Jack Oberg: “Yes, we’re excited about the potential of the format for other products as well. We plan to introduce a few more single-serve SKUs in the coming months. The goal is to keep building on that same mix of quality, convenience, and trust, while making daily rituals easier to stick with.”
